Okay really, I’m doing this for myself. But hey, whatever. At least I won’t lose it in a torrent of logs this time.
I’m addicted to playing cards, much to the chagrin of my mother, who stares in horror when I pull out a deck and start shuffling/cutting in public. The shock in her face and watching her jaw drop is pretty much worth the screaming and arguing later.
Now, I see nothing wrong with using a custom deck. So what if I’m not using a typical Bicycle or Tally-Ho? They’re made from the same material, they just have a different design that kicks ass. Therefore, I have decided to stock up on customs for some time, seeing as I already have 7 Bicycle Rider Backs.
So now, without further ado, I give you my amazing to-buy list. Or recommendation list. Whatever floats your boat.
Karnival & Karnival Midnight
Absolute win. I love the detail put into back design which fits my tastes pretty well. And the Ace of Spades? Simply to die for. (no pun intended) While it’s a hefty price at $7.99 a deck. It’s too damn epic for me to not get.
Buying 4 of each, 8 x 7.99=63.92 + 8 shipping= $71.92

How could I resist?
So, the idea was born. Hell, let’s go build a T-rex out of playing cards. It’ll be fun!

Nerd habits die hard. I just had to build it to scale. With that in mind, and really, nothing more than a few theories, I head off for a supply run.
II. Supplies

-12 hot glue gun sticks
-12 decks of Bicycle Rider Back Playing Cards (6 red, 6 blue)
-hot glue gun
-2 measuring tapes
-2 wire pliers
-wire cutters
for a total of ~$33 dollars.
III. Building
Tuesday: Spine seems like the most plausible thing to start with, so I cut out 18 feet of it, double it up, and hot glue it together.
In hindsight, I shouldn’t have glued the cards to the spine until I got it standing. Turns out electric wire wasn’t as sturdy as I anticipated. I had to dismantle my progress and it took me an entire day, about 2.5 sticks of glue, an old TV [...]
